It all began with a dream that God planted in Pastor Myer's heart...a dream that began to take seed with one man's fervent plea for personal mentoring in Bible study. As the story goes, this young man came to the Myer's and asked if he could be allowed to come live in their home for a summer, only a summer, so that he could learn how Pastor Myer's studied the Bible. Well, this wasn't feasible or practical at the time...but it planted a seed...a seed that grew into a greater desire within Myer's heart to start a Bible Study Training program or school. Not long after, at GYC in 2008, Pastor Myers shared his dream, in passing, with another ministry minded professional. While it was a burden he had, due to his extensive speaking schedule and travels, he had no idea how to pull it off. But God was already at work, orchestrating events. With the help of this enthusiastic new friend (who happened to be Calvin Kim), a team of ministry-minded young professionals jumped on board and began brainstorming about how they could develop just such a program: A short training program that would make Bible study even more practical and take people even deeper into the Word of God…in other words, in addition to giving people inspiration from the Bible, it would focus on teaching people how to find the inspiration for themselves in the Bible! (Remember the old adage, “Give a man a fish; feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish; feed him for life!”) Miraculously, almost overnight, plans came together. Prayer was offered, a board of directors was formed, and a plan conceived…and within a matter of a few short weeks, ARME (Adventist Revival Movement for the Endtime) was born. While the acronym sums up our mission in a nutshell; to see God's people spiritually revived, the name also has another meaning. It's actually two words put together, ARM-ME, and this signifies how the mission will be accomplished, by "arming" and "equipping" each individual with practical tools necessary for deep Bible study and a powerful devotional life. As time has gone on, it's become very obvious that God's dreams are even broader than our own. As we've watched people falling in love with the Word, and falling in love with prayer...we've been almost speechless at the beautiful ways we've seen God working in the lives of thousands of people, both young and old. And we've been humbled as we've been reminded that this isn't about us, it's about what the Holy Spirit is just waiting to do with all those that are truly seeking Him...and all those that are digging deep into His Word. As those that attend ARME see (and you really have to EXPERIENCE it for yourself to believe it), we believe that the power behind the effectiveness of this training program has come quite literally through the power of prayer - united prayer. At our first ARME in 2009, we offered an optional 6:15am prayer time led by one of our prayer leaders before the morning devotions. Many people attended, and as we joined together in united praise, confession, and supplication each morning, it was very evident that the Holy Spirit was moving. People wept and hearts were broken and set free. After this first camp and seeing lives transformed, marriages healed, and people filled with a renewed passion for the Word of God – simply from this prayer time, we were convicted of the need to encourage people to more actively take part in "United prayer." So we started offering an “All day Prayer-Room” where our team could lead people in this time of united prayer and supplication throughout the day. More and more lives were changed. The next step was to add an "all-night prayer room" at least one night during camp. Hundreds have now been part of this experience and have gone home to start their own united prayer groups as they’ve come to discover a deeper walk with God then they've ever known before. And the rest, as they say, is history. "United Prayer” has become a central part of every ARME Bible Camp and it only keeps getting better. (We may sound biased, but again, you have to EXPERIENCE ARME to see for yourself what God is doing!) In fact, "United Prayer" has become such a blessing that our prayer leaders have actually been invited to teach and lead United Prayer all over the world, at the General Conference, and in a number of the Church Divisions. And as a result we've seen God start up more and more prayer groups...some run by children. (But that's another story, and you can read more about that on our Prayer page.) However, one thing has become very evident (as many testimonies show); we have found that the combination of getting people into the Word, and on their knees in united prayer is the secret for powerful life-changing revival. And that's what we are all seeking because we know that Jesus is coming soon! In the dark ages, people longed to have the freedom to study the Bible for themselves. They longed to be free to meet and publicly pray. After the Reformation, they finally had this privilege. However, many in Christianity and our church today have taken this freedom for-granted and have grown passive spiritually. Let's not take these freedoms for-granted anymore. Time is short. Jesus is coming soon. Let's "study to shew ourselves approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." II TIm 2:15 ARME’s is a member of ASI and our chief goal is to work as a supporting ministry of the Seventh-Day Adventist church, seeking to promote the Revival and Reformation initiatives of the church, and to help lay the ground work for the Latter Rain to fall. We know Jesus is coming back soon, and we are asking for rain...the Latter Rain of the Holy Spirit, to enable us to finish the work! With this goal in mind, our prayer is to see God’s people unified, and united. And the key is unity with Christ. As inspiration writes: “The cause of division and discord in families and in the church [and it’s ministries] is separation from Christ. To come near to Christ is to come near to one another. The secret of true unity in the church and in the family is not diplomacy, not management, not a superhuman effort to overcome difficulties—though there will be much of this to do—but union with Christ.” Adventist Home, 179 As we have sought unity in Christ, our team of volunteers (pictured below) has become an inseparable family. This is the spirit that we try to incorporate into every ARME Bible Camp. Since we are going to be “family” for eternity, we believe that we might as well start living like it now. We invite you to join us in praying for the Latter Rain, and if you can, join us as family for one of our future events as we press forward together, Forward on our Knees! - THE ARME Family
